Leave A Light On (Talk Away The Dark)
Carrie Underwood
Carrie teams up with Papa Roach for a duet on their song "Leave A Light On." The duet was recorded in Nashville and continues the mission of the California band to raise awareness for suicide prevention and mental health awareness, alongside partner organization(s) the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), which will receive royalties generated from both artists from the song, in perpetuity. The release will also raise awareness for the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline in the United States and Canada.
A Change Is Gonna Come
Syesha Mercado
I was interviewing Syesha during season 7 and she said she didn't know what song to pick next. I suggested two -- Sam Cooke's "A Change Is Gonna Come" and Brenda Holloway's "Every Little Bit Hurts." She went with the former and I think it was her greatest performance of the season.
It's Not Over
Daughtry
It was a shock when Chris Daughtry was sent home in fourth place on season 5. The producers thought he was going to win. Still, Chris is one of the most successful Idols in the series' history, rocking the Billboard charts with his band, Daughtry. Chris co-wrote "It's Not Over" with three other people, including fellow season 5 finalist Ace Young.
8th World Wonder
Kimberley Locke
One of the best pop recordings by any Idol, and I feel somewhat responsible. I made the call to Curb Records to see if they would be interested in signing Kimberley to a recording deal -- and SVP of A&R Bryan Stewart said they were. Bryan then found "8th World Wonder" and the single debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Hot 100 Singles Sales chart.
